Anonymous asked: Do you think your vintage business will be successful in San Jose? I love the concept you came up with, but feel that San Jose is not the right location. Your business needs to be in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle or even Palm Springs because those are the cities with people who love vintagey things. A store of your own on Melrose or Haight or even in Berkley seems to fit your store much better than tech-savvy San Jose.
We’re hoping business will be successful here, eventually of course. We did consider opening up shop in San Francisco, but then we’d just be another antique store amongst the many others. Not that we don’t enjoy a little competition, but we want to expand the market here and introduce a totally different type of lifestyle and way of shopping to a different demographic. I think with San Jose bringing so much to the table in the past years in almost everything creative, we thought it would be a great idea to bring this kind of thing to San Jose. The fact that we’re the only antique shop that does in-house design work actually gives us a big advantage. There is a small antique community on San Carlos near Valleyfair, and there are regular customers that go there often. So we know the market is here, we just need to target them and let them know where we are and what we’re doing. We’ve gotten really great responses from the community and other local designers/businesses so far, so we’re staying positive! :)
